Separated at birth?
I enjoyed Daniel Craig in Layer Cake, Invasion, The Golden Compass and Casino Royale...but in the latest Bond movie he looks a wreck.
His stooped, ape-like posture, too-tight suits, swagger and saddlebag face looked terrible.
Bond is meant to be tough but sauve.
Craig looks like rough and craggy; very old for a 44 year old.

A watch is a watch
I looked for a wristwatch for my husband before Christmas and found many styles featuring all manner of gizmos.
You could get a watch that was also a thermometer, GPS device, a compass and would tell you whether or not it was low or high tide. In addition to time and date of course.
Ultimately, Hubby wanted a watch that is simply a watch.
This trend of amalgamating devices does not interest us. If I want to take a photo, I'll use my camera. If I want to make a phonecall, I'll use the phone. If I want to use the web, I'll use the PC. I don't need a device that does all 3.
The problem with amalgamating functionality is that it diminishes quality.
You disagree?
Is your cameraphone capable of competing with an SLR camera for picture quality?
Does your phone have fibre optic broadband?

Cyber_punk led to steam_punk and diesel_punk.
When you look at fashion inspired by these sci-fi subgenres there is typically an emphasis upon 1970's punk fashion and its more recent off-shoots. Fetish clothing, spiky, dyed hair, tattoos, piercings.
Yet, when you read Neuromancer or The Difference Engine, you find nothing in these stories to suggest this fashion. The word 'punk' and how it is manifest in these books (the origin of cyberpunk and steampunk) is more to do with attitude rather than fashion.
'Punk' generates images of anti-establishment, irreverence of authority, breaking the rules, ignoring boundaries, anarchy etc. These aspects of punk are what you may find in the source novels.
Rather than revere technology, the characters treat it indifferently, casually. There is a saturation of throw-away technology evident from the very beginning on Neuromancer. The reader is bewildered by the dizzying descriptions of the future, but the characters are not in awe of their world.
In The Difference Engine there is a massive degree of detail pertaining to Victorian fashion, objects and technology. The punk element is not made manifest by spiky purple hair. Dyed hair is 1970's punk, not steampunk.
Each manifestation of the punk sensibility is relevant to the era in which it occurs. Victorian era punk styling is not going to take ideas from the 1970's. It rebels against its own era and the fashion should reflect this.

An largely unknown gem of a movie, with some truly hilarious scenes and a great story.

The plot is lame, the acting lousy, and Kevin Bacon is SO vain. I was surprised that the music was generally poor too.

This was perhaps the worst sci-fi series I've ever seen.

In the film The Golden Compass, everyone's soul was
externally manifested as some sort of animal.
The animal reflected and represented the personality and temperament of each individual.
From the animal, a person's true nature could be discerned.
By teenage years, the animal had settled and become fixed: a dog, a cat, a crow etc.
It can be quite fun to try to figure out which animal suits which person, and is usually easy to do.
In my husband's case I've never been able to find a suitable animal that fits.
Ultimately, I've concluded that he is best understood in terms of the 5 kung fu animals: bear, bird, monkey, snake and tiger.
