In the film The Golden Compass, everyone's soul was
externally manifested as some sort of animal.
The animal reflected and
represented the personality and temperament of each individual.
From the
animal, a person's true nature could be discerned.
By teenage years, the
animal had settled and become fixed: a dog, a cat, a crow etc.
It can
be quite fun to try to figure out which animal suits which person, and is
usually easy to do.
In my husband's case I've never been able to find
a suitable animal that fits.
Ultimately, I've concluded that he is best
understood in terms of the 5 kung fu animals: bear,
bird, monkey, snake and tiger.
