Winter gear is on sale now!
June is the best month for buying Winter outdoor gear. You just have to plan ahead and not get caught up in seasonal fashions. Winter 2011/2012 fashions are now selling at half price.
Think ahead.

Sale!
We try to buy all clothing, bags and footwear on sale. This saves a considerable amount of money. We can sometimes pick up a great coat at less than half price because its old stock and the seller wants to shift it.
It is very rare that we buy anything at full price.

Down jacket
Coupled with hat and gloves, a good down jacket with a water-resistant/proof outer fabric is a fabulous way to stay warm in winter. With a wide variety of cuts available, you can avoid the bulk if you shop around.
Tip: the longer the coat, the heavier it is.

Lightweight fleece
A lightweight fleece worn over a thermal undershirt is great for warmth. These garments can be worn beneath a feather & down coat.
Rab double-pile fleece
This is a must for warmth! The soft Berber pile is really nice and the back has double-thick pile.
Hubby once tried 300 weight polartec and it felt like wearing a cardboard box. This Rab jacket is much better.

Counterfeit goods
One consideration: is the price too good to be true?
If the genuine article costs £200 but you have found it for £70, what's the catch? If the deal seems to good to be true, then it probably is too good to be true.

Counterfeit goods
Buying on-line can be a nightmare. Many sites are selling counterfeit versions of products... This is not new but you have to be cautious.
One good tip is to go the manufacturers own website and find a link to recommended sellers. This decreases the risk of buying a fake item.

Elegance
Geneviere Antonine Dariaux has very witty, insightful things to say about clothing and accessories. She advocates wearing only 2 colours of hosiery: one for everyday wear, another for evening or occasional.
I wear tan or black; low denier.
